MUSIC & WORSHIP CONCENTRATION APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

What is your platform of excellence?

VOICE

If you feel called to study voice, you will need videos of yourself singing.

These videos may be taken in either private or public settings, such as a church service, recital, concert, musical theatre performance, or home. (We recommend that you submit at least one public performance video.)

The recording must be either a solo performance or a group performance in which your voice is clearly distinguished.

Applicants are required to submit three songs of varied styles chosen from the list below:

  • Classical Italian or English Art Song (French and German pieces accepted as well)
  • Musical Theatre
  • Contemporary Christian/Worship
  • Pop
  • Jazz/R&B
  • Country

Memorization of all pieces is required. In addition to the above, the applicant—if a song writer—may submit a recording of one of their original works as a fourth piece.

KEYBOARD

Keyboard applicants may audition in traditional piano and in electronic/synth-based keyboard application.

Applicants are required to submit three pieces of varied styles chosen from the list below:

  • prepared piece from popular repertoire (may include a Broadway or other popular song)
  • rhythm groove play along with accompaniment track and chart
  • original material or cover that best represents your skills and personal style (may be previously recorded material that features applicant’s playing). For electronic/synth applications, this may also include the applicant’s programming/sequencing in a digital audio workstation (DAW)

WORSHIP LEADING

Worship Leading applications consist of a vocal audition with accompaniment on an instrument. Worship Leading applicants should prepare the following as audition repertoire:

  • sing and play two contrasting worship songs (one song should be performed at 90 bpm or faster, and one song should be performed at 70 bpm or slower.)
  • recording of the applicant leading at least one worship song in a live worship service (the applicant’s voice must be clearly discernible on the recording)

Applicants may record themselves in either a private or public setting. If the setting is public (as in a worship service), the applicant's voice and instrument should be clearly audible.
